From the candle lighting at Gremlin's memorial at the studio, August 20, 2007.
One of the candles my mom put out to light was a blue taper that had been lying around the studio with a group of candles
for as long as I can remember.
When the candles had been burning for a long time, and we were looking at the pretty patterns in the wax, my mom picked
up the wax melt from the blue candle and said, "Look. What do you see?"
It was this perfect blue dragon. Dragons, of course, are one of Gremlin's totem creatures. And blue was one of his favorite
colors. It fit perfectly.
For those of us who like to see it this way, it seemed like he was telling us he was with us, shaping the love we sent up with
the candle flames into a little piece of himself for us to see and hold onto.
