Late September, 2011
6053 Atlantic Ave, Long Beach
Unusually for me, I don't remember the exact date I shot these. Possibly because I was on my way out the door to run a couple of errands down the block, when I noticed the watery reflections of the tree-in-bloom in the surfaces of a pickup truck parked just in front of the studio.
I hopped back inside, grabbed my camera, spent the next 20 minutes or so exploring the abstract possibilities to my little heart's content, ran back out to finish my interrupted errands - and then just barely wasn't late for my afternoon martial arts class!
I have a beautiful Japanese kimono that was a gift to me from Gremlin's mother, and I didn't realize till after I took the photos that I was really reminded of the fabric of the kimono, which features pink blossoms on teal-colored fabric. The truck is actually a very similar shade of teal to the garment, but came out looking much more blue in the photos.
