I stepped outside the studio's front door for a bit of sunshine, and saw the light falling on two trees that had just been severely pruned in front of the building next door.

Just for reference, this is what the trees actually looked like.
All the closeup/abstract shots are of various parts of the tree at frame left.
The knots that make up the 'bodyscape' and 'goat head' shots are in the bumpy area at the top of the trunk just below the branches.
