A more direct angle, with shallower perspective, of the knots that became the 'tree bodyscape' series (in this album) when I rotated to shoot more 'across' the formation.
From straight on like this, the headless figure looks more like a mermaid, with the curve that forms the foreground 'hip' in the other images looking instead like the fall of a tail here.

Shooting 'across' this knot formation, I felt like I was composing a bodyscape shot of a dancing woman's hip and torso.
This set shows a range of small changes in rotation and framing affecting different versions of the same basic shot.

The Trees

Just for reference, this is what the trees actually looked like.
All the closeup/abstract shots are of various parts of the tree at frame left.
The knots that make up the 'bodyscape' and 'goat head' shots are in the bumpy area at the top of the trunk just below the branches. The 'hand' shots come from the crook where the branches converge into the trunk.
