Distorted Jungle

This was the first set of windows where the distorted reflections of trees caught my attention. The windows of the old buildings are not in very good shape - some of the panels are cracked, dirty, fogged, and boarded over. The tree reflections range from ghostly to almost mirror sharp in the various panels, and create a sense of dislocation where it almost appears you're either looking in through a window or out through a window, rather than viewing reflections.

With this set of windows, I intentionally focused 'through' the glass on the reflections themselves. Again, there's this odd sense of almost-superimposition. It becomes easier to believe that we're seeing a double exposure, or seeing in or out through the window, rather than realizing right away that the trees are actually reflections.

The CVS building and sign across the street are reflected in the glass front of the laundromat half a block down from the studio. The sun was low in the sky a little before dusk here, creating the big slash of flare at upper left.

Tree Shadows on Red Brick

I liked the big shadows, rich red brick, and receding angle in this view of one of the Youth Center buildings.
Street Cars

Houses line the street that runs right behind the park and neighboring high school. Not visible from this angle, a young man was working under the open hood of the orange car, while his black and orange cat sat on the lawn a few feet away.

'Shapes in the clouds' bring to my mind in eagle in flight when I look at this shadow. This is shot with my lens right up against the narrow space between two vertical slats in the fencing enclosing this storage area.
