Tread Lightly
Figure nude shoot with Serene Ross
April 5, 2011
I've used this large industrial wheeled ladder in a couple of past shoots, with the intention of basing an ongoing project around various models working with the ladder as a prop and structural element. However, this was the first shoot where I really felt like the concept lived up to its full potential, in large part due the model.
From the first messages we exchanged in regard to shooting together, I could tell that the ladder had really caught Serene's interest amongst the various concepts I mentioned. And when it came to shooting, she indeed absolutely owned it, climbing and bending on, under, and around the ladder with strength and grace.
This shoot also lent itself to some of the most purely abstract bodyscape images I've shot to date. I truly love using photography as a means to show the human form in strange and alien ways that we would never see with the naked eye.
